Default Question about purchase choice

So I'm looking to steer away from WoW and I was wondering...

If I purchase one of these fangled pvp editions of GW (probably the nightfall one)...

1. Will I be lacking equipment? Or is that provided with all of the skills?

2. Will I be disadvantaged in PvP in anyway barring my skill.

3. Will I be able to join guilds and participate in guild matches, etc.

Understand that I've had plenty of PvE exposure in WoW and was looking for a pure PvP environment where everyone was on a level playing field.

1. Equipment is universal. Skills provided are of that campaign only.

2. Equipment mods need to be unlocked. It's not that hard to get some Balthazar faction from AI (though that is capped at 2,000 per day) and Random Arenas. You have skills for that particular campaign unlocked (as well as core) but you won't have skills for the other campaigns. Depending on what format you choose to devote yourself to, you may be at a disadvantage due to not having all the skills (depends on profession though).

3. Yes, so long as you can find someone to invite you into the guild.

Most importantly, since you didn't join before the update to the Battle Isles pertaining to arenas, you will only have access to Random Arenas until you achieve 5 consecutive wins. Once you do that, you get access to Team Arenas, where after 5 wins (does not have to be consecutive), you will unlock Heroes' Ascent.

To access Guild vs Guild battles, you must join a guild that has a guild hall.

Thanks for your reply, but now I have a few more questions...

1. Is obtaining this universal equipment possible with a PvP edition package?

2. Am I so gimped by only having core + nightfall skills to make it unadvisable? It seems like asking a little much to have to buy 3 games to compete (120 dollars total?)

3. Which prof's are the most viable with JUST core and NF skills?

Once again, thanks a lot.

1.pvp characters can simply create any basic equipment along with relevant unlocked upgrades at anytime *except* during combat.

2. not gimped, but you may find it harder to learn the skills which you don't have (ie what they do and when to stay the heck away from someone). Also it may be more challenging. But essentially the nightfall/core set while not as diverse as having all skills will still be competitive.

3. Ele NF skills are good, warrior, ranger, monk... ok all of them. One way to approach on the most level field would be to stick to the nightfall professions for a little bit (paragon and dervish) since there arent any other say dervish skills except for nightfall and gwen.

Thanks. Last question:

This gear that PvP chars can create... is there a bunch of stuff better than it that you can only get through non-pvp chars? Or is it just about as good as it gets?

all equal, max stats. 15-22 sword for example, none better anywhere.
the mods however will take unlocking and can have a large impact, but figure not too long and once you get started it'll be done before you know it. My advice is don't worry too much about it, you'll have them unlocked by the time you know what they are good for.
